The risks of using public wifi are real
We’ve all heard the warnings about using public WiFi in cafes, or public spaces but how often do we really consider this when we use a laptop on a work trip or just in the local cafe. If you are thinking of working remotely or offering the flexibility to employees, the following article is worth reading.
In the article, Maurits Martijn, from De Correspondent took a hacker to a café and, in 20 minutes, he knew where everyone else in the cafe was born, what schools they attended, and the last five things they googled.
It’s timely to remind ourselves, colleagues and staff about the risks of working in cafes and other public spaces. Perhaps worth having a rule around when it’s ok to use public wifi or perhaps better to tether to their phone account.
